When I try to install my old Frozen Throne game on Windows 10 it says I have to install Warcraft III first (which I did of course).
Is there a way to fix this?

I am getting this problem on Windows 7. I get an error message that states 'Warcraft III was unable to find War3.exe. Please make sure your game is correctly installed, and that your Warcraft III disc is in your CD-ROM drive, and try again.' The game runs single player mode fine until you get the patch. I have downloaded the patch in game and out of game through https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/classic-game-patches. Also I installed the game about a month ago got the patch notes and had no problems until today (9/21/15). I didn't download a new patch the error just happened. That is when I uninstalled to try to correct the problem, but I still get the same error after applying the patch.

I figured out my issue. My antivirus (Avast!) was blocking the updater. I gave the Warcraft III folder exception status and reinstalled the game. The updater went through no problem and the game runs fine now post patch. Hope this helps you guys.

i gave w3 and bnet exception status thru the control panel's firewall protection-
but i cant seem to find any way to give exception status to w3 thru avast internet security or avastsafezone can u help? i keep reinstalling the game its crazy.

Ok i can get wc3 to play fine, but i cannot get frozen to install, goes back to original question, how do i get frozen throne to install? i have wc3 installed and it keeps saying 'please install wc3 before installing frozen throne' i have tried the 2 blank text document solution's i have seen online, but i am not sure i am putting the text document in the C: directory drive. how do get to the C: directory on windows 10?

Ok, so this is how I got it to work. Right click on the .exe file. Go to Properties. At the bottom there is a check box that says Security: This file came from another computer and might be blocked to protect this computer. [ ] Unblock. Check the unblock radio button. Click apply and close. Right click the .exe and run as administrator. FIXT!
